Cerro Gordo County Attorney

Kaitlyn Ausborn is a Mason City native and Iowa attorney dedicated to public service, victim advocacy, and strengthening her community. After earning degrees from the University of Iowa and Drake University Law School, she returned home to practice law before joining the Cerro Gordo County Attorney's Office as an Assistant County Attorney in 2019. Her work focuses on prosecuting criminal cases while supporting victims of domestic violence and sexual assault with compassion and accountability. Kaitlyn is also an active volunteer with several local nonprofit organizations, reflecting her longstanding commitment to serving Cerro Gordo County both professionally and personally. Read more.

Bob Bartles

Des Moines County Supervisor

Bob Bartles is running for Des Moines County Supervisor to strengthen rural communities, promote responsible local government, and serve his neighbors. Raised on a multigenerational Missouri farm, he learned the values of hard work, self-reliance, and service. Bob earned a college degree and a master’s in counseling psychology before dedicating his career to leading nonprofit organizations that support people with intellectual disabilities, including Hope Haven in southeast Iowa. A longtime community leader, he serves on local nonprofit boards and has helped welcome Ukrainian refugee families to the region. Bob is committed to thoughtful leadership and a stronger future for Des Moines County.

Julie Bautista

Dallas County Supervisor - District 5

A sixth-generation Iowan, Julie Bautista comes from a family that has farmed in Adair County since 1869, instilling values of hard work, education, stewardship, and community. After attending Drake University, she built a nearly 40-year career in marketing and management across healthcare, banking, local government, chambers of commerce, and small business. Julie returned to Iowa in 2014 to care for her aging parents and start a business, later welcoming two daughters and grandchildren to the state. As a candidate, she is committed to listening to residents, making fiscally responsible decisions, and helping Dallas County continue to thrive.

Jason Benell

Dallas County Supervisor - District 1

Jason Benell is a West Des Moines resident, veteran, nonprofit leader, and community advocate running for Dallas County Supervisor. Raised in a military family, he served in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom before returning to Iowa to earn degrees from DMACC and Iowa State University. With more than a decade of nonprofit leadership and a strong commitment to volunteerism, Jason believes Dallas County's rapid growth requires thoughtful, inclusive leadership. He is focused on responsible taxation, sustainable development, and strengthening communities to ensure Dallas County remains a welcoming place where families and businesses can thrive for generations.

Webster County Supervisor - District 4

Niki Conrad is a Fort Dodge native and Chair of the Webster County Board of Supervisors, where she is committed to transparent, accessible, and community-focused leadership. Raised in a blue-collar union family, she learned the values of hard work, integrity, and looking out for others. Niki works closely with local leaders, businesses, and residents to address challenges facing Webster County, including childcare, healthcare, economic development, infrastructure, and public safety. A strong advocate for rural communities and regional collaboration, she is dedicated to building communities where people feel heard, supported, and connected. She lives with her two rescue dogs, Kennedy and Peach.

Kristin Dietzel

Dubuque County Supervisor

Kristin Dietzel is a Dubuque County native, small business leader, and community advocate dedicated to strengthening the region through education, workforce development, and economic growth. After earning degrees from the University of St. Thomas, the University of Iowa, and Loras College, she held leadership roles at Northeast Iowa Community College and Greater Dubuque Development, securing funding and building workforce partnerships. Today, she co-leads her family’s business, Painted Sky Designs, while remaining active in community organizations and newcomer initiatives. Kristin is committed to ensuring Dubuque County remains a vibrant place to live, work, and raise a family.

Nathan Lein

Fayette County Attorney

Nathan Lein has dedicated more than two decades to serving Fayette County, first as Assistant County Attorney and now as County Attorney. Raised on his family’s farm near Arlington, he brings the values of hard work, integrity, and service to his work protecting public safety and pursuing justice. Nathan combines accountability with compassion, supporting approaches that address substance abuse and mental health while strengthening communities. Deeply committed to rural Iowa, he understands its challenges and believes meaningful solutions begin locally. He is focused on maintaining a strong County Attorney’s Office, recruiting future legal talent, and serving Fayette County with fairness and dedication.

Chauncey Moulding

Jefferson County Attorney

Chauncey Moulding has served as Jefferson County Attorney since 2019, bringing a career dedicated to public safety, criminal justice, and rural communities. After serving in the U.S. Coast Guard in intelligence and counter-narcotics roles, he earned his law degree and returned to Iowa to build his legal career. Chauncey has prosecuted serious felony cases involving narcotics, violent crime, and crimes against children while working closely with law enforcement and county leaders. He is committed to transparent, accountable government, protecting victims, and delivering practical, effective justice that meets the unique needs of rural Iowa.

Casey Schotter

Black Hawk County Supervisor - District 5

Casey Schotter is a lifelong District 5 resident, Army veteran, educator, and candidate for Black Hawk County Supervisor. After graduating from West High School, he served two combat tours in Iraq, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant while leading artillery and explosive ordnance teams. Returning home, Casey worked in retail, security, and warehousing before becoming a teacher and PhD student. His experiences have shaped his commitment to public service, education, and working families. Casey's priorities include supporting law enforcement, improving infrastructure, protecting local waterways, and ensuring Black Hawk County remains a strong community for future generations.
