Jason Benell is a dedicated public servant, community advocate, and proud West Des Moines resident running for Dallas County Supervisor. Motivated by the rapid growth in Dallas County, Jason believes this moment presents unprecedented opportunities for the region that require forward-looking leadership committed to equitable and sustainable development, responsible taxation, and a welcoming, inclusive culture. His vision is a Dallas County that attracts families
and businesses alike.

Jason’s commitment to service is rooted in a childhood spent as an Army brat, moving between countries before his family ultimately returned to central Iowa. He graduated from Moravia High School, located in a town so small that he and his friends envied other communities with stoplights. 

After high school, Jason enlisted in the Armed Services and completed a combat tour in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Following his deployment, he returned home to Iowa, where he earned degrees from DMACC and Iowa State University.

Today, Jason lives in West Des Moines with his wife and two children. He has over 10 years in leadership roles across multiple non-profits and considers volunteering for his community a key aspect of civic duty. His life experiences, military service, global perspective, and volunteerism across central Iowa have shaped his belief that strong communities create the fabric of a strong region.

Jason is determined to help lead Dallas County to a bright future. He brings a record of service, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to ensuring the county remains a beacon for the rest of the state - a place where families like his and yours will want to stay for generations. His campaign is grounded in the belief that leadership means stepping up, working together, and building a county that welcomes everyone.
